Important COVID19 Information
Updated March 18, 2020

This is a time of uncertainty for many and we share your concern regarding the current pandemic. Flanders Pediatrics has been actively communicating with our local and regional resources so that we may better serve you during the coming weeks. We have been utilizing information from Yale Children's Hospital, Connecticut Children's Medical Center and the CT Department of Health to shape our response to this crisis. First and foremost we want to reassure our patients that healthy children appear to be largely unaffected by this virus.  However, it is still important for us all to practice social distancing as children can often be a vector for older adults at risk. Social distancing means avoiding unnecessary contact through play dates and public places. It also means avoiding contact with at risk relatives when possible. For more information and for ideas on how to spend time with your children please visit  HealthyChildren.org.  Our local children's hospitals have also set up patient information lines that you may access for additional education.

Our primary goal is to continue to serve the health care needs of your family while also keeping your children safe and healthy. Thank you for your patients and understanding during this time. Below please find some important updates.

1. Triage for sick patients has been updated to include new guidelines developed to keep pediatric patients safe. We will be scheduling sick patients later in the day as our earlier hours will be reserved for well care.
2. Please note that we are not a testing center, but we can help determine who needs to be tested. There are drive up testing centers available in our area and all centers will require an order from a health care provider for completion of testing.
3. We are working on establishing virtual visits for a select type of complaints. Please be patient with us as this is a work in progress.
5. If the office is closed you can reach a provider through our answering service
In October 2019, several manufacturers announced nationwide voluntary recalls of Ranitidine medications. These products are being recalled due to confirmed contamination with N-nitrosodimethylamine (NDMA), a probable human carcinogen, above levels established by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA). No adverse events related to these recalls have been reported to date.
For more information, including the current list of affected products, please visit the FDA recalls web page:
